US 30-year mortgage rate hits highest in nearly three years

The average 30-year fixed mortgage rate rose to 7.49%, its highest level since November 2023, as higher Treasury yields and inflation concerns kept borrowing costs elevated. Mortgage applications fell 4.2% for the week, adding to pressure on would-be homebuyers.

US Department of Education announces enforcement action against LAUSD

RFK Jr.’s embrace of AI confounds some MAHA allies and medical experts

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is promoting artificial intelligence as a way to give patients more control over health information and medical decisions, drawing support from some technology advocates and criticism from medical experts and some MAHA activists. The debate comes as the administration takes a broadly pro-AI approach to health care and other sectors.

Calling the technology “superintelligence” did little to ease concern: 43% said the term makes them worried, versus 25% optimistic.*
