Most Americans believe the United States is moving toward socialism, and they’re not happy about it.
In a Fox News poll of 1,206 registered voters, participants were asked, “Do you think the country is currently moving away from capitalism and more toward socialism, or not?” Fifty-four percent of voters believe replied “yes, it is.” Only 38 percent said “no, it’s not.”
This is up from 2012, when 51 percent answered yes to the same question and 43 percent said no.
In addition, when asked, “Do you think it would be a good thing or a bad thing for the United States to move away from capitalism and more toward socialism,” 60 percent said it would be a “bad thing.”
This includes 83 percent of Republicans, 63 percent of Independents, and 35 percent of Democrats.
Only thirty-two percent of Americans thought moving toward socialism would be a good thing.
This includes 14 percent of Republicans and 24 percent of Independents.
Democrats were the only group who showed majority support for moving toward socialism, with 53% saying it would be a good thing.
These results align with a previous survey which found that 75 percent of participants preferred Equal Opportunity Capitalism compared to 10 percent in favor of Big Government Socialism.
