57% view big-government socialism unfavorably, compared with 25% who view it favorably.
The wording matters: “big-government socialist” produced an 11.3-point Republican advantage in ANMP’s effectiveness test, compared with 5.7 points for “democratic socialist” and 6.3 points for “socialist,” while 51% still viewed “big-government socialist” as an accurate description.
73% prefer a free-market entrepreneurial system, while just 14% prefer a government-controlled bureaucratic system.
About six in ten voters say they are concerned about the platforms of self-described democratic-socialist candidates.
